I think there are always moments following us. Little shadow trails marking where we've been. And sometimes, when you glance back, there's one to make you smile and say to yourself, "that was good." It's even better when it was all created out of simple fun. No extravagance, no hoopla, no overwhelming anticipation. It starts with some pigs and a quick drive to a farm where dogs run up and horses lean over gates to greet you.
Our dear friends, Rick and Kristel, are people who have this amazing ability to share and, by doing so, mix the magic for just such a moment. And when friends, fabulous food, straw bale seating, hot drink and cold winds are thrown in, it becomes so obvious this is a fond memory, already, while you are there. Especially when Kristel was able to track down some local suckling pigs for her uncle's Traeger(s) (yes, I do believe it's plural!)
Two smokers were busy all day! And for supper, those pigs was served up in style with homemade buns, coleslaw, beans and carrots. Wow, the pork was so absolutely tender! It felt decadent, to sit, eat and visit in the tent, sheltered from a cold north wind and a gray sky sending forth little icy balls.
After some strategizing, baseball bats began to fly!
The pink piggy piñata was smashed and children scrambled to collect candy and toy farm animals. Candy eating began in earnest and then, poof!, it was time head back home. Memories made! A great idea, a fun day, all perfect for reminiscing! Thanks guys!!
